Well I am definitely not on last years pace! I think at this point in the year (February 3rd) last year, I probably had already seen ten movies. Well I only have two measly January reviews for you and that is:
My Bloody Valentine 3D: Yes, I actually saw this movie. My friend wanted to see it, and I owed her a few flicks since I make her see my movies. That being said, this movie was predictably bad in almost every way. The ending was stupid and unoriginal. The acting was cheesy. Of course that is to be expected, I know that. The only think that saved this movie was the fact it was just entertaining. The 3D effects were pretty cool for about half the movie and then it just got old. Not really a film I cared for. MY RATING: *1/2 out of ***** (This film is rated R)
The Poughkeepsie Tapes: This film has been tossed around like crazy never getting a definite release date. It was supposed to be out in 2007, then 2008 but nothing. Then we were told a DVD release in January of this year, but then that was canceled! It was frustrating. But I did manage to see the film in my sneaky ways. I have to say as a film and story it was disappointing, especially after having to wait so long. But you know what, this movie creeped me out to my ver core. It was hands down the single most disturbing film I've ever seen. The ending sequence was truly unnerving. The "raw footage" of the killer was down right wrong and terrifying! Knowing that this wasn't real, even with the let down, I still "liked" this movie, which is odd to say given the premise. No particular scene was scary as hell as they say, but the idea behind the movie and the way it played out was very frightning. It was like an exteded episode of Unsolved Mysteries. I had a very hard time sleeping after this film, which for me is saying A LOT! MY RATING: *** out of ***** (This film is rated R)
AVERAGE JANUARY FILM RATING (rounded out): ** out of ***** (Saw 2 Films).
Total films viewed in 2009 to date: 2
Nice to see you reviewing movies again. I know you enjoy it. I probably won't see these movies except maybe on cable and that's a big maybe.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I just can't get away from it. It won't be a hassle though, seeing as how I won't be seeing a ton of movies. So this will be easy. 'Cause I really do love it!
ReplyDeleteYeah I don't recommend you watch Poughkeepsie Tapes, it's not a very easy movie to stomach. It's pretty harsh at times.
