Well it was reported today that the sequel to the wildly popular films, "The Hunger Games" titled "Catching Fire" will begin filming in the fall. Lionsgate worked it out so that star Jennifer Lawrence will be able to film "Catching Fire" back to back with the new "X-Men: First Class" sequel. She's going to be one busy lady! Ah, the cost of fame!
I'll tell you who won't be back though, that would be director Gary Ross. He essentially gave his "two weeks notice" to the studio. Apparently he's never been one for repeat business. Meaning he doesn't want to dedicate himself to the same type of project over and over. He did the film "Pleasantville", then "Seabiscuit" then "The Hunger Games". So clearly he's not one to stick with the same genre back to back. Which is cool I guess. If he likes being sporadic and trying new things...to each is own right? Also though, the money that was offered to him was low for his standards so it's another reason why he declined the film.
Question now becomes, who will direct the sequel to one of the biggest movies of 2012? Well obviously it's way to soon to know and Lionsgate said they will be on the hunt soon. Who do you think should helm "Catching Fire"?
My vote is for Christopher Nolan. Ha. Would never happen.
