Mikey @ The Movies Presents: The 2009 Fall/Winter TV Awards

Hello readers!! Yes it is true...this crazy movie fan is also one crazy fan of TV! I watch a lot of TV...and now I sound like a lazy nerd. But believe me, I get out a lot. Don't worry, I'm not just a couch potato. I love immersing myself in the worlds of numerous TV characters on a weekly basis. The TV season generally is split in two. We have the fall/winter season and the Spring/Summer season. So I thought I would do my own awards (better than the Emmy's of course, duh!). However, this time I will be including show from last Spring/Summer due to the lack of drama's I've watched this Fall/Winter. So without further ado, here are my nominees for the 2009 Fall/Winter TV season.

Winners are in RED

Best Comedy Series:
- 30 Rock
- Family Guy
- Glee
- Modern Family
- The Office

This was a tough choice. It was between Glee and Modern Family. But Modern Family is the one comedy so far this year that has really stayed consistently funny, I don't know if any show has made me laugh that much EVERY episode.

Best Drama Series:
- 24
- Flash Forward
- Harpers Island
- Lost
- Medium

Lost came back strong last year and had one of it's best seasons ever. I really cannot wait for the conclusion.

Best New Show:
- Better Off Ted
- Community
- Flash Forward
- Glee
- Modern Family

One would think since I gave Modern Family best comedy, it would also win this award. Well it was also close. Glee is more of a dramedy, it could fall in any category. This show is by far one of the best shows on TV right now, it's funny, it's moving, it's got it all. A brilliant show.

Best Reality Show (Competition or Other):
- The Amazing Race
- America's Got Talent
- American Idol
- Mythbusters
- Survivor

9 times out of 10, this would go to Amazing Race. I love Survivor, don't get me wrong, but Amazing Race is much more of an engaging reality program these days. However, this past season of Survivor was arguably one of the best they've ever had, and they've had 19 of them! Great characters, lot's of blindsides, it really was amazing this season. Bravo!

- 24 (last season)
- Flash Forward (winter finale)
- Glee (winter finale)
- Harper's Island (last season)
- Lost (last season)

Best Comeback Award:
- The Office 2009 fall season. Last season was one of the worst in my opinion and now it has done a complete 360 and gone back to it's usual hilarious antics! YAY!

Biggest Downward Spiral Award:
- Ghost Hunters (all versions). All three versions of the show (the original, International and now Academy) are all struggling to entertain and even come across as belieavable. I miss the old days. I fear it is the beginning of the end of TAPS on TV.

I will announce the winners in a week or so!! Thanks!
