30 Rock: Standards and Practices (#6.10). Jenna hatches a surprising new plan to get publicity, while Jack finds himself begrudgingly playing parent to his teenage nemesis, Kaylie Hooper. Liz rejects the new authority Kenneth has over "TGS" with his new job in Standards.
Ugh, this show has just become a mess. Am I just crazy for thinking that? This show used to be so damn funny. I just can't figure out what happened. Is it just getting old? The storylines on last nights show were just so silly and not in a funny way. Jenna with her 6 donated egg kids was ridiculous even for her. Jack battling with his teenage girl nemesis was tired...it might have been funnier a few seasons back when the writing was more crisp. And now they are trying to turn Kenneth into a big shot over at NBC? Just leave him as a the dorky, super religious page. It just seems they are trying to do to much to change a show that never needed fixing. Grade: C-
Parks & Recreation: Lucky (#4.18). Leslie and Ben are thrilled when Buddy Wood wants to interview Leslie for his Indianapolis talkshow. April and Ron prep Andy for his final exam in his Women's Studies course.
Another fantastic episode over at the Pawnee Parks Department. Leslie gets wasted and does an embarassing interview with guest star Sean Hayes (Will & Grace). I love when she gets drunk! It's also always amusing when she screws things up like she did once again last night. Amy Poehler is SO damn good on this show, and I hope this show never goes the route of The Office. The side story of Jerry stuffing the envelopes and Donna being freaked out and amazed by it was hysterical! HA! Grade: A
The Office: Last Day in Florida (#8.18). After Robert California reveals that he hates Nellie's business plan, Jim tries to save Dwight from being fired. Meanwhile, Andy learns that Erin isn't coming back to Scranton.
Man, I really hope this is the last season of the show, it just needs to end. But if this was the final season of the show, we might have already known by now to prepare for a big series finale. They have already announced the Dwight Schrute spinoff for next season so who knows. There just wasn't anything remotely funny about the episode. Even when Jim and Dwight were wrestling in the hallway...it just...was bad. Why do they even include James Spader in the main cast credits when he's only on ever 5 episodes for a very small amount of time (by the way, he's the leaving the show already this season). Kevin and Oscar have more screen time then he does and they aren't part of the main cast opening credits. Anyway, this was just, not a good episode. It hasn't been that good of a season, and it's way past it's prime. Grade: D+
Awake: The Little Guy (#1.2)I really want to like this show, but I noticed something last night: this show is at risk of becoming extremely redundant. Each week we get glimpses at both aspects of his new life (one with his wife, one with his son) and how he's able to connect them. He of course would love a world where they are all together, but he's very happy with this current situation. There really isn't any inner turmoil with this guy. We get two crimes per episode, and this time they had a connection. But we only get about 10-12 minutes total screentime with each crime because it hasn't to be broken up into both his lives. It creates a potential for losing interest in the crime aspect of the show. I liked last nights episode, don't get me wrong, but I feel this premise could run it's course really quickly. But then in the last 5 minutes they threw in something that might add a new level of interesting to the show. Laure Innes (ER) guest stars as the police cheif. She has a secret meeting with an unknown man about our main character. They both know something about him, and hinted they caused the car accident. Do they know about his two lives? Or is there even more to it? I like this little mysterious twist and I'm excited to see where it goes. Grade: B+
Spader wasn't on the previous 4 or 5 episodes because he was away filming a movie; before that he was on almost every episode.
ReplyDeleteWell I was speaking more sarcastically. I was meaning that he barely has a real presence on the show. I love Spader, I think hes a great, funny actor, but on The Office he hasnt really been used to his potential. He doesnt seem to have much more to do then a Kevin or a Phylis. I can understand why hes leaving at the end of the season.
