The Walking Dead: (SPOILERS) AMC Apparently Spoils Major Death

Walking Dead

Just wanted to briefly mention this.

Apparently yesterday released some of the artwork for the DVD release of season 2 of The Walking Dead (which is still currently airing on AMC). Well they accidentally let slip one major storyline shocker: The death of Shane. The DVD artwork had the words "Shane's final episode" listed on it (pictured above). AMC was using a third party vendor to create this DVD information.

Well this is a big woopsie daisies on AMC's behalf, even though it has been widely speculated that Shane would be biting the big one this season. The storyline for the show has been building up his death for at least the past few episodes. There was also the L.A. Noire story that came out a few months back. Frank Darabont (the original creator of the show) has a new show coming out (L.A. Noire) and it's already widely rumored that Jon Berenthal (who plays Shane) has signed on to play the lead character. Although, an official announcement has not been made. There's also the comic book series in which the show is based. The Shane character dies very early in the series. His death occurs around the same time that the show is currently at. In the comic, he boils out of control just like he has been this season and attempt to kill Rick (which is also something they've been leading to) but Rick's son Carl shoots Shane in the neck, killing him.

AMC also released a press statement today stating the the season 2 finale will feature another shocking death of a major cast member and will end on a jaw dropping cliffhanger. Everything is adding up to a Shane death folks. Although, I don't know if it will be Carl who kills him. That kid was annoying as hell the past few weeks, especially last weeks episode. I wouldn't be surprised if he kills him, but I don't know if AMC wants to show a child shooting and killing an adult. Who knows though.

I have not liked Shane this season. However, I understand why it will be detrimental to the show if he does in fact die. He is the opposition to hope. He has essentially become the shows human villain. For a show like The Walking Dead, they need a human antagonist. My problem with Shane is he's not a likable bad guy. He's not one you love to hate. He's just a complete dick and is off his rocker! They have hired on an actor to play the villain in season 3..so that's just another piece to that nearly completed puzzle.

Oh, and if you think a major TV show would never kill off such a major character, you might want to think again. This is 2012 folks, there is no holding back. Also, Boardwalk Empire just killed off their 2nd most major character at the end of season two when Steve Buscemi's character shot and killed Michael Pitt. Huge shocker, because Pitt was THE main character of the show next to Buscemi.
Regardless, there are two episodes left this season, and I know it's going to be amazing! I cannot wait!
