The premise:

In this remake of the Japanese horror film "Chakushin Ari" (2003), several people start receiving voice-mails from their future selves -- messages which include the date, time, and some of the details of their deaths. MY REVIEW

"One Missed Call" will easily be one of the worst five films of 2008. It is this years first Japanese remakes, of I'm sure, many to come. The film is literally a laughable excuse of a movie. The idea that people are getting voice mails on their cell phones of their own deaths, could never have worked as a premise to a film no matter who did it. It could have been directed by Steven Spielberg and starred Denzel Washington, and this movie would still have failed to impress. We don't get star power however, we have here, Edward Burns (Saving Private Ryan, 27 Dresses) and Shannyn Sossaman (40 Days and 40 Nights), delivering some of the worst performances of the year. The film ends with no closure and a disgustingly lame attempt at a "reason" behind the evil of the films story. Nothing could have saved this movie. Nothing.
